Caring For Young Minds Black College Tour 
(10th Annual)

 Each year, Caring for Young Minds takes a group of 230 high school students on a week-long college tour of several HBCUs.  This year, the tour will include: Virginia Union, Virginia State, Saint Paul's College, North Carolina Central,  North Carolina A & T, Bennett, Tuskegee, Florida A & M, Bethune Cookman. Last day of the tour, tour participants will enjoy a Walt Disney World Theme Park (Orlando, Florida)! This tour is co-sponsored by the Long Branch, New Jersey Housing Authority and the Department of Recreation. The tour will visit Johnson C. This HBCU tour departs from San Jose International Airport and visits an impressive array of schools each year. Schools to be visited: Clark Atlanta, Morehouse, Spelman, Alabama State, and Tuskegee. The Martin Luther King Center Ð Atlanta, GA and Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL. Total cost: $1,025. The director is Carl Ray who started a Youth Opportunity Program in East Palo Alto in 1968 and began recruiting youth to attend HBCUs in 1970; then undertook sponsoring tours to the colleges.  To date, he has chaperoned more than 2,000 students on HBCU tours.
